Employment

EMPLOYMENT

AAUD has carried out a number of projects which have sought innovative employment generating practices.

These practices include:
• The mixed-use/TOD centre approach (generates 5 x employment of a shopping centre)
• The exploitation of the ‘Movement Economy’ where the Town/Village is located to capture passing trade
• The ‘Context Sensitive’ frontage to major roads which promotes employment uses as buffers to high traffic volumes
• Interim uses (particularly in greenfield locations) where the ultimate appropriate land use may take some years to arrive
• Integration of education and knowledge based activities
• Placemaking as a mechanism for attracting employment

Major exemplar projects include:
North Penrith (Thornton) TOD

A major mixed-use Transit Oriented Development at Penrith Town Centre.

North Playford, SA

A town centre is located at right angles to the arterial whilst a range of employment uses capture the movement economy via slip roads.

North Leneva, Victoria

A town centre is located at right angles to the arterial whilst a range of employment uses capture the movement economy via slip roads.

Sovereign Hills

Strong Town Centre includes incubator industries.

Macarthur North

A strong mixed-use, knowledge based precinct is proposed between Town Centre/railway station and UWS Campus.

Mawson Lakes

A major growth centre developing into a TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) with university, science park adjacent and new mixed-use Town Centre designed to reduce auto-dependence and generate real and economic growth.
